Leave our Devil Be!!

If it wasn't so pathetic, it might be laughable.  I have been reading the local blogs and forums, keeping up with Facebook, the local paper, and the news and I cannot believe what is going on in this small town of Jeffersonville. First, we have the Justice for Jeffersonville Dogs group coming out of the woodwork bound and determined to keep our current Mayor from being re-elected.  The sorry shame of it all is, they were being taken seriously, but now they are just another pawn in a game of dirty politics.  They wanted the Shelter cleaned up, they called the media and rallied outside of City Hall.  The shelter sat up and took notice.  They did a thorough cleaning and painted and got it up to par, so that should have satisfied our outraged dog lovers. Wrong.

Apparently some mayoral candidate or one of his minions have been dog whispering to this group and encouraged them to continue their rampage until they have succeeded in firing everyone at the Shelter, including the Director who they claim only has his position because of the current Mayor.  Oh yes, we are back to that Mayor thing again!  Let us move onto another shelter story.

The homeless shelter.  That pain in the butt shelter that one of our mayoral candidates claimed to be only for drug users and lowlife's.  Yes, guess someone forgot to mention that our precious Mike Moore had some not so nice things to say about our cities homeless a few years back.  Perhaps someone can shed some more light on that dirty little secret.

Where is the outrage that no one wants to step up and help the shelter out with their enormous sewer bill?  Where are the activist who care about why we have so many homeless and what can we do to help them change their circumstances?  Where are the signs, where are the cute kids dressed up in their halloween costumes?  Do we have more empathy for the dogs who may have to lay in their poop than for the humans who may be going to bed cold and hungry?  No, we would rather sit around and gripe about the Director of the Shelter and her mismanagment of funds.  We would rather withhold our donations to prove a point, to hell with the hungry!

Now I see a new "situation" rearing it's ugly head.  The sacred Jeff High mascot!! You know the one, that sweet looking evil Devil.  It must be those dreaded christian finatics again.  Don't they have anything better to do.  Like one poster said, this happens about every ten years or so but it will never change.  It might be on the front page of the paper one day but then everyone will forget.    I think he was right.  It is much easier it seems, to rid the school of God and anything that he inspired like those evil 10 Commandments, or that filthy school prayer.  Also,  good riddance to that ridiculous Pledge of Allegiance.  Obviously, the kids don't need that type  of influence since we have no problems with drugs, unwanted pregnancies or fighting.    They are right of course, keeping that Devil around and all that he represents is a much better influence.  Get a life people!!

Kinda silly I know, but I was thinking about the real Devil a/k/a Satan, Beelzebub, Prince of Darkness.  Anyway, I could just imagine him down there just grinning from ear to ear.  Yep, they have my image all over that high school.  They cheer me, they almost worship me.  My name is spoken by all of those children daily!!  Then you see God, probably crying, weeping even, because those same children are not allowed to speak his name.  They are not allowed to say a prayer to him while at school.  They cannot speak of this nation being under one God.  He remembers when he was taken out of Christmas too.  Who fought for him?  How many parents came out and protested to keep his name in school?  How many rallied to display his Ten Commandments?  But you know what he probably said...Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.

I had to laugh when I just read the Professor's comment about this devil. He said that religious people confuse the Jeff Mascot Devil with the devil mentioned in the scriptures. So...as my smart and cute husband pointed out...so if you take a picture of the JHS Mascot "devil" and put it up on the wall and you ask the everyday normal person who that is...they are NOT going to say the JHS mascot...They are going to say..That is the Devil, Satan..the one that lives in Hell. I always gave this Professor some credit for being intelligent, but that was a totally assinine statement.
